Research
However, I had to carry out research before I begun creating the magazine.
This magazine contains a image of a student doing her artwork, portraying an aspect of school life. The layout of the magazine is very consistent as the colour green is presented as the background of the masthead and the tagline, therefore implying that the school's uniform or distinctive colour is green. The sophisticated text used suggests that the school is of a high standard, magnifying that the students get good grades their exams. Therefore, my school magazine cover will be similar to this type of layout as it is simple, but also professional looking.
This college magazine includes the logo of the college as well as a consistent colour scheme of red and white. The image is centralised, stealing the focus of the magazine; however, the image may not be considered appropriate as it does not portray an aspect of college life. Nevertheless, as the top story is of record breaking exam results, the pupils celebrating does seem fitting. The diverse text fonts and sizes, decrease how sophisticated the magazine is. Therefore, I will not be basing my school magazine cover on this piece of research as it clearly illustrates the amateur nature of the producers.
School Magazine Task:
The school magazine I have produced has a consistent colour scheme of navy blue to portray the school's main colours. The medium shot image added to the front page mainly covers the whole page; therefore stealing the focus of the magazine, which highlights the life of a student at Lordswood Girls' School and Sixth Form Centre. The position of the logo is in the top left hand corner and this will be constant throughout the magazine, which emphasises a repeated layout, making it more professional.
I also produced a mock up of the contents page that will be in the school magazine. The draft I have created portrays the position of three diverse images along the right hand side of the page; therefore opposite the list of articles and stories within the magazine. The logo will be placed in the top left hand corner of the page, continuing the layout of the front page, hence keeping consistency throughout the whole magazine. This will also be visible through the repeated nature of the font style, size and colour which will be navy blue, again emphasising the colours of the school.
