Main Task - Music Magazine Edited Images

Taking the images
Before starting my magazine, I took a variety of images of my model, that would look suitable for the front cover, contents and double page spread of the Indie/Pop magazine I want to create. I took numerous images of the model in the same position, but at both low and high angles, giving the images perspective. Perspective is also highlighted as the images are taken from different distances as I have taken quite a few close ups, medium and long shots. In some of the images I took, the model is not looking at the camera, presenting the multiple focus used in the photograph; therefore drawing the attention of the reader to other aspects of the image.

Editing the images

1- Front Cover Image

Edited

This is the image that I am planning on using on the front page of my music magazine. I layer masked the background of the image as it was not suitable for a magazine and it did not make it look as professional as I wanted it to be. Therefore, I chose to have a white background, so the focus of the magazine would be on the artist, preventing the background being a distraction. Then, I made the image brighter by using the colour variation tool, which will allow the text layered onto the image to become more clear for the reader to read. Also, even though it is not visible on this image, I used the clone stamp tool to make the artist's head rounded as the top of her head was chopped off before.

When editing this image, the aim was to brighten the major elements of the photograph; therefore the colour of the guitar has been altered as well as the colour of the artist's hair, allowing them to stand out.  I decided not to crop image as I wanted the model to be in the centre of the image; therefore only making her the focus of the image. Also, the background of the image was not deleted or changed as it implies that the work of the artist can be carried out anywhere, suggesting that singing and playing the guitar comes natural to her. This also magnifies the title of the magazine, 'Acoustic', as acoustic music is simple, yet effective.

This is one of the images I will be using on my double page spread. I firstly changed the brightness of this image; therefore giving the artist a sharper look, which also brought out the colour of the model's hair and sunglasses. This also portrays the quirky personality of the artist, which contrasts the image located on the front page, presenting her as a serious music artist. I also removed the background of the image as I believed that the it would ;look a lot better without the images of the garden. Again, this allows the artist to stand out from the image; therefore the readers do not distracted by elements in the background.
